This division undertakes research on various aspects related to buffalo genetics, breeding and management. Animal Farm is attached to this Division for conducting selective breeding through progeny testing. Associated progeny testing is conducted in association with other centers of Network Project on Buffalo Improvement of ICAR. Transfer of technology is undertaken for technology transfer, assessment and standardization. Field progeny testing in the adopted villages is undertaken to strengthen the ongoing progeny testing programme. Emphasis is being given to take up buffalo genomic studies specially identification of molecular markers for early selection of genetically superior animals and QTLs.
