The
division of Buffalo Nutrition came into existence
with the establishment of the Institute in 1985
with a view to conduct research for improving
the productivity of buffaloes for milk, meat and
draught. The main emphasis is on to find out the
nutritional requirements and develop economical
ration for all categories of buffaloes. Various
research findings and technologies developed in
the division were disseminated to the farmers.
Research is also being carried out on various
aspects on rumen metabolism with special emphasis
on the role of various microorganism in the digestion
in the rumen. Mineral nutrition and development
of area specific mineral mixture and study of
some aspect of feed toxicants and feed technology
are also being studied.
